A. The qualification for The Civil Services conducted by Union Public Service Commission requires a basic Degree .no other specific Qualification is required .how ever certain services like IPS,IRTS demand some physical fitness levels in height, chest size, vision etc.,
2Q.What are the various Services included in UPSC Civil Services Exam?
UPSC lists out some 20 odd services in its notification published in the month of December every year. However the numbers of services vary from year to year. The popular Services includes IAS,IPS,IRS(Indian Revenue Service),IRS(Customs),IRTS(Indian Railway Traffic Service),RPF(railway Protection Forse),IA&AS(Indian Audit and Account Service),etc., it covers varied areas from Administration to accounts to policing. The ideal time is the school itself where one can have a solid foundation about building one’s own personality .how ever with care full planning and preparation one can start at the graduation level. 5Q.What are the Stages in civil Services Examination?
Cavils Examination Consist of three Stages 1.preliminary 2.mains 3.Interview/Personality Test. Aspirants are qualified in the ratio of 10 to 15 percent of the posts notified from those who have appeared from preliminary and are admitted to write Mains Examination. Out of those appeared aspirants are qualified in the ratio of 1:2 or 1:2.5 of the posts notified for Interview. Finally successful candidates are those who are qualified in the Interview.
6Q.can you give out the schedule of the Civil Service examinations?
It is a one and half year process from the time of notification. Notification is issued in the month of December every year in the Employment News. Preliminary Examination is conducted in the month of May/June and mains Examination for the Qualified in the month of October/November and finally the interviews in the next April/May.

10Q.How many papers are there in the Mains Examination?
People Qualified in the preliminary Examination are eligible to write Mains examination. It Covers 9 papers Descriptive in nature. Of which 2 papers are qualifying in nature and the rest covers 2000 marks.
English-qualifying -300 marks.
Regional language-Qualifying 300 marks.
General Essay -200 marks
General Studies Paper-1 -300 marks
General Studies Paper-2 -300 marks
Optional Subject-1 Paper-1 -300 marks
Optional Subject -1 Paper-2 -300 marks
Optional Subject-2 Paper-1 -300 marks
Optional Subject2 Paper-2 -300 marks
Total -2000marks.
11Q.How many Members stay in the Panel of interview?
Normally 5 members, a combination of Senior Bureaucrats and Subject experts many times with a psychologist on the panel. It is more of a Personality Test rather than an Interview. The suitability of the personality is assessed based the Qualities of Honesty, Integrity, leadership and keen sense of observation with a high analytical abilities.
12Q.Where Do the Examination is Held?
For Preliminary Examination UPSC Conducts the Exam Simultaneously in various cities of the country. For Mains it conducts in some prominent cities of the country and finally the Interview? Personality test is held in Delhi in UPSC Bhavan only.
13Q.Does It Mandatory to stick to the Word limit in Descriptive Papers in Mains?
Not Necessarily. But if the limit is surpassed excessively those will be penalized in the number of marks they can score. So it is better to stick to the word limit, it will also help in managing the time. Time management is a very big issue in answering the Descriptive papers.
14Q.What is The Qualifying Mark for Prelims?
It varies from Optional to Optional as UPSC tries to bring uniformity for various optional Subjects almost 10-12% of the Candidates may get Qualified from the preliminary Exam for the mains. The percentage varies from popular optional to the others. The Cut-off Varies from category to category also that is General/OBC/SC/ST will have different Cut –offs.
15Q.What is the Qualifying marks in The Mains?
UPSC Fixes up A Qualifying mark more acceptable to all the optional Subjects. It varies from year to year roughly from 45% to 48% of the total marks of 2000 at the mains level(i.e.900 to 960).It is also Subjected to the number of posts
